Some things I have bought I have bought on a whim or the spur of the moment if you want the technical term. I bought Oliver Twist because I thought I would eventually want to read it but that plan is still pending 2 years later. I bought an inflatable hammer and now instead of hammering and making me seem funny it simply sits there deflated and useless. I’ve learned my lesson, if I buy anything I must first look at it in a civilised and concise way, so I am going to pick apart this new fangled invention known as an IPad and noone will be able to stop me (insert maniacal laugh here).

The first thing about the IPad is that it is 9.56 inches in height and 7.47 inches in width with a depth of 0.5 inches. Now you have an idea of how big it is I can continue. The screen is a 9.7 inch diagonal LED multi-touch screen with a backlight and IPS technology. Its resolution is 1024-by-768 at 132 pixels per inch. It has a finger print resistant coating (thieves beware) and has support for multiple languages. That means in simple English the graphics look very good, I think unless I misinterpreted it, the pictures look good so I am assuming that it means it is good.

It has full Wi-Fi capabilities so you can interface with the internet on the move something that everyone except my dog can do these days and has Bluetooth technology installed so you can interface with other technological gadgets. The memory of the seemingly small IPad is large it can go up to 64GB or gigabytes if you want the unabbreviated term which is a lot, I think. It also has a 1 GHz processor installed inside to keep things moving swiftly, that’s big considering I thought it was meant to be a phone, silly me.

If you like your videos and sound and things that make sounds like videos and sound then the IPad has something that plays them. Various audio formats are supported including WAV and ACC and something called MP3. The video support is also very impressive with the capability to play things like an MP4 at 30 frames per second, I have no idea what that means but the videos look good on their website.

If you speak a language other than English, first I have to ask WHY and if you’re from another country sorry I’m from the MTV generation, the IPad has you covered though with support for French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, simplified Chinese, Russian and English. The English part is very important for me as I barely understand it but it’s all I have.

The battery inside the IPad is a big beast, fully charged it can support up to ten hours of surfing the internet blindly looking for a video that you were told about and now want to see, not that I’ve ever done before. You can also watch for videos for ten hours something that we all have done at some point in our technological lives. The IPad is a nice little box with some nice specs but I don’t understand a word of them.
