Question by Sh Gut: Can the Ipad 2 replace my laptop?
Ok, so I know it hasn’t been announced yet, but the Ipad 2 will come out in the next 5 months or so. With this said, it has been rumored to have 2 cameras, upgraded software, and everything else Apple throws into an upgrade. My question is, as a student with papers, movies, a camera, and more- will it be enough to replace my Macbook?
Now, before a lot of you say “you can type on it” or “there’s no word processor”, assume I’ll get one with a keyboard case and pages and what not. Ok… hope to hear some good responses.

I think you should stick with your Mac book; reason being due to the fact that an iPad is not even close in rivalry with a decent computer such as the Mac book. It’s simple as that.

honestly I prefer a real macbook as to an iPad. The touch screen is nice but rather useless when trying to do anything like writing a report. Its meant as a portable little note-taker for college students, scientists, doctors. That kind of stuff. The average user never needs one.
I am also tempted to replace my laptop with an iPad 2, but I don’t think it’s such a good idea. Here’s why:
1. The iPad 2 will be awesome, but it still doesn’t have a keyboard. You can always use a keyboard extension with it, but it’s not the same as using a Macbook keyboard.
2. USB. The new iPad 2 may have mini-usb port, but that won’t let you plug in all the other devices that you either use now or might need in the future. Yes, the mini-USB is a much-needed addition, but it’s not an end-all.
3. Movies. You can’t download movies from the internet and watch them on your iPad. Sure, there are ways to WATCH them on the iPad, but you can’t download them. As a student, that should be a big thing holding you back.
4. It’s a completely different tool. It’s like saying, can my phone camera replace a real camera. Sure, it has some nice comparable features, but a camera phone will never be as good as a REAL camera.
So, basically I’m saying that an iPad 2 isn’t a computer killer, and it has never been meant to be. Keep your Macbook at home, but bring your iPad 2 with you in your bag.
