This is a beautiful case. It looks classy and professional. The leather and the magnetic latch are both exceptional. Shipping was quick and the price is right. I have been pleased with the case in general, with one exception. After sliding the iPad in and out only 2 or 3 times the leather has loosened up a bit. If I pick up the case – even in the closed position with the latch secured – and the opening happens to be facing down, the iPad starts to slip out. Several times while walking around with the iPad I looked at the case and the iPad had slipped out an inch or two. This is a beautiful case, but be careful, the iPad is too nice to have it drop to the ground!

The slippery iPad needs a case. At first, I purchased the polycarbonate one. I ordered this leather one just to see what it would be like. I thought that I could always return it if I did not like it or if it was not a quality item.
This case is great.The fit is great and it does not detract from the quality iPad. I like it better than the poly-carbon one because it offers more protection and is perfect to carry the iPad around. If you are going to carry the iPad in a briefcase, then that may be another matter and you may prefer the poly-carbon one. I have found that I carry the iPad only – like for example to a Dr. appointment or business lunch meeting, this case is just the thing.
For business, I find the iPad less “geeky” than plopping down a laptop at a lunch appointment. The iPad is much like a big iPhone. Great to show a client a picture or data sheet or chart. A laptop, well, is just more “there” and in the client’s face than the iPad. This leather case is perfect thing to carry into a client meeting and I don’t have to worry as much about the slippery iPad and someone dropping it when I hand it to them.
For $20, it is a great value and the quality is outstanding. Very classy.

May 16, 2010 Update 2 Star Rating
Update after having the case for a month…..be aware that iPad CAN and has slipped out of the case after it stretches a bit. This is due to it loosening with normal use and because the iPad is VERY slippery and smooth. I do admit that I carried the case upside down when it fell out. But, a properly designed case should let the product fall out, no matter how you carry it. I was lucky that there was no damage to my iPad. Until a clasp is added to the top, I am going to have to change my 5 star review to a a 2 star rating. If you have this case, suggest you put a piece of Velcro on the back of the iPad and on the the case to avoid it slipping out accidentally. I found that I have no reason to take the iPad out of the case once I placed it in there thus, the Velcro is no problem. I have emailed the vendor and advised them that they should put a small security strap at the top of the case to better secure the iPad.

I’m very pleased with the quality of the product, especially for $20. The leather is nice, the clasp is magnetic, and the iPad is pretty secure in the case (I was a little concerned it could fall out of the top based on the pictures). The handhold on the cover is useful in certain situations. The inside of the cover is soft enough that I’m not concerned about scratching the screen, but I would not put anything in the little card holders.
The bad:
The border around the screen is too close to the edge. Mine has a small alignment issue in the corner that causes the border to cover a little bit of the screen. It covers maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of the battery indicator and is very annoying. If I had paid more for this I would probably try to get it replaced. But for $20, it’s not with the hassle.
Other than that alignment issue I have zero complaints.

This is the biggest mistake I have ever made in a purchase. I wished I could give it a ZERO but 1 is the lowest you can give on Amazon. I put this case on yesterday and today my iPad (Wifi-3G-64GB) slipped right out on to a marble floor! I was carrying under my arm as you would a book. The iPad is so slippery and the case has nothing to keep it in on one end, so it just slips out easily. It should have some kind of flap or elastic or something on one of the ends or else the inside of the case should have something to prevent slippage. Because one just rotates the iPad so easily, you are not as conscious of which way is up you are tucking it under your arm when you close and snap cover shut. It seemed like a beautiful cover when I put it on yesterday and seemed snug, but it is a disaster. It turned out to be 10000000% worse than having a case or cover. I have purchased many covers for family to test and see which one works best for us. This is the VERY WORSE! Looks good, but will ruin your day when your iPad slips out of it within 24 hours!

Here’s a list of the problems:
1. The product is completely open on the top which allows the device to slip out of the case once it has been removed and reinserted a few times. FYI: I have a friend who bought this case and just left the iPad in it, never took it out, and they had problems with the device sliding out of the top…once it even fell out….so be aware that you can not travel with just the case…the iPad will not be secure in the case with its open top.
2. The faux leather is shoddy and has a strange chemical smell. Some say it is genuine leather…for $20 dollars? Maybe rat skin if it is…but it does not feel or smell like leather to me.
3. The lining is very cheap to the touch and collects lint and dust very quickly
4. The hinge which holds both halves together is loose and allows for too much movement. Some movement is useful as a stand but too much, like here, undermines this…and makes it difficult to hold securely.
6. Service and response time from the seller is shoddy and slow.
7. I ordered my case on May 7th 2010 and it didn’t arrive until the 28th and all the support they offered was only the USPS tracking info. Mine was an overseas order, but by expedited shipping, which meant it should have taken 4 days and NOT 21 days!!!! A lousy delivery record.
8. When they fail to ship/deliver on time they only give a $2 USD discount
9. Packing of the case could have been much better. Cheap black box and filler in the cover…but what can you expect for $20 USD?
All in all a very, very substandard case and poor support from the seller.
Advice: At this time the best case out there is the Marware Eco-Vu folio … look it up here on Amazon and watch some reviews on YouTube and you’ll get a better picture of it. A very good case that makes the CaseCrown appear as crappy and shoddily designed and manufactured as it is.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CASE…especially if you live outside the US and have to use expedited shipping which costs more than the actual case.
Addendum: When I complained about how long it took for their product to arrive at my doorstep they refunded the shipping cost. Still consider it a poorly designed product.
