Question by rulyg: Should I but the Apple Ipad for my wife?
She talks about how cool it would be to have one,,, and she also wants a new Navigation system for her car. I know that the Ipad has navigation application, and a mount could be installed in vehicles..She has a Honda CRV. Would it be economical to get her one, even though she has a laptop? Plus, isn’t AT&T taking away unlimited data? How much would it be per month? (we don’t have AT&T service for our phones) Or should I just get her a Navi system that can be installed to the dash?

If you want a GPS, buy one, it would be well worth your money. It was specifically design to be a GPS and to be used in a vehicle. Monthly fee… FREE. Initial cost… anywhere from 0 to 0 (depending on features)
If you want an crippled computer (giant iphone), buy the IPad. IPad is impractical for an in-car GPS system. It’s way too big to mount and use. It will also not work if you are outside of AT&T’s 3G network (compare their 3G network to Verizon’s 3G network and you’ll see the major problem). Monthly fee… for 2GB of data. Initial cost… 0-0.
