Question by Jeffrey: Should i get a ipod touch 4th gen or an ipad?
I have the choice between the two and can’t decide. I currently have an ipod touch 2nd gen and use it mostly for gaming and surfing the web.Since this is the case with my current ipod i was wondering if i should just get an ipad so i can have a bigger screen. But i was also thinking about getting the new ipod touch since i love my current one so much. The camera doesnt interest me on the ipod though because i already have a camera on my phone. I do like that it has a high resolution screen on it. Because i usually am using my ipod in my house, portability isnt a huge issue. Money is also not a problem but i have been hearing that the the ipad can cost even more than it already does in the long run like buying apps for it. Is it still worth it? I also thought i heard that there is an upgrade for the ipad in march 2011. I dont know if this is correct but if it is should i wait to get it then? I know, its alot but i really need your guys opinoins and or thoughts on this.Thanks.=)

Honestly you shouldn’t get either. The upas is nothing but an oversized iPod touch. And you say you don’t really care for the camera on the 4th gen.
I mean to eaches own. It’s a waste of money. I have both.. And I regret it. You’ll jut be missing out on siZe (ipad) and built in mic camera & retna display(itouch4)
iPad does not have USB port. Forget iPad, it’s so last year. Get Nook Color which has USB port and is better for half the price of iPad from bn.com or any Barnes & Noble physical store or BestBuy or Walmart.
Nook Color specs:
– $249 with free shipping
– 7 inch Color LG Touchscreen 16 million colors with anti-glare coating 1024 x 600 delivering 169 pixels per inch.
– 8GB built in memory expandable to 32 GB with microSD card.
– 512 MB RAM
– Formats supported: EPUB, PDF, XLS, DOC, PPT, PPS, TXT, DOCM, XLSM, PPTM, PPSX, PPSM, DOCX, XLX, PPTX, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, MP3, AAC, MP4.
– Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), USB port
– OS: Android 2.1
– Processor: TI 800 Mhz ARM Cortex A8-based, 45nm OMAP3621
– Nook allows to lend books for 2 weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B&N app. Barnes & Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
– Nook Color is better as a color e-Reader than Kindle simply because it has color and Kindle is black and white. Content that greatly benefits from color – such as kids books and magazines – looks much better and sharper on Nook Color’s screen.
– Nook Color is better as an e-Reader in general than iPad. It has a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight than iPad’s. Also, as it’s smaller in size than iPad, the text appears sharper on Nook’s screen. Also it has 12,000 (more soon) kids books that are built as a game with feedback.
– Nook Color has been picked as the editors choice by PC Magazine while pro reviewers of other sites (CNET, ZDNet, Engadget, AllThingsDigital, etc.) mentioned that it tested to be pretty fast for apps and PDF’s, and has a beautiful screen.
– Overall, Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It’s a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn’t have a camera. If all you want is to read novels, Kindle (or the original e-Ink Nook) might be better for you. If you want something more from your device at half of the price of iPad or Galaxy tab, then Nook Color is your best bet.
– Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
– Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for renting text-ebooks.
There is a comparision between ipad and ipod touch 4. You may get the information what you want. Good luck! http://www.video-to-ipad.biz/ipad-news/which-should-i-get-ipad-or-ipod-touch-4.html
Hi, I’m Nial and I review technical products online and I saw your question and I just felt the urge to answer it considering I’m actually using an iPad to type this up now.
I just got my iPad a week ago, and I too was fairly nervous as to whether or not I would actually use it. That said, I bought it regardless due to the good reviews. My main concern was it’s operating system/user interface. As it is quite similar to the iPod Touch and/or iPhone, I was concerned about how limited it would be to use.
After a week of using it, I can tell you write now that I absolutely love it. I generally dislike Apple products as I was brought up using PCs… But I really do love this device. All of my concerns were thrown out of the window as soon as I synced up the iPad to iTunes.
The operating system/user interface is pretty much the same as an iPod Touch and iPhone – but every application built on the device by Apple has really been thought out to be much more useful, productive and all around fun. Apple took the applications and asked themselves this: “what could we make better?” – and the answer to this is everything. Safari is very similar to a Mac rather than an iPhone; Notes is very sleek and useful; Calendar is better than the real deal; Contacts is easier to navigate around and much more.
The iPad is very, very fast. Faster than any other net book, anyway. Faster than a mothership gaming computer? I’m afraid not, but for it’s size and internal devices, it is very impressive with a fantastic battery life – much, much better than any other laptop or net book.
Games are fun to play and the application store is very easy to navigate around. The best thing about this is that some of the games bought on the iPad can be played on your iPod Touch and iPhone AS WELL as your iPad with no affected physical appearance. However, games purchased on your iPod Touch and iPhone will play on your iPad, but at the size and resolution of your smaller device. Your can increase the size of the application on your iPad, but the resolution will be very stretched, quite smudgy and does not offer the dame experience as onr would in the first place.
Mail, for once, is genuinely fun to use! It just feels so good to flick through large amounts of emails so quickly at the touch of your effortless finger. It’s fun. However, there is no junk inbox, so yous have to log onto your email account on Safari to view those.
Does it replace your mothership gaming computer? In some cases, surprisingly yes. It takes email, book reading, web browsing and more to the next level and makes it all fun, rather than frustrating. Hardcore gaming is more appropriate on the computer. The iPad is not meant to replace a mothership gaming computer, it’s meant to replace a netbook and in sme cases a lapop.
Does it replace a laptop and/or netbook? Yes! It is much lighter to use and carry around and much, much more productive than any laptop or netbook. Gaming on the iPad is also more enjoyable than gaming on a laptop or netbook due to the large multi-touch screen with games especially built for the iPad just thrown into the app store, which is just a finger tip away.
All in all, yes, it’s a very expensive device, but it is very useful. I have lost all interest in my £1200 HP Envy Laptop and my £200+ Dell netbook and the iPad really has just replaced them both. Social networking? My iPad took over. Everyday web browsing? My iPad took over. Gaming? My iPad, in most cases, took over. In the end of everything, it is a wonderful device but is very expensive. You’re better off with a desktop for performance, but if you enjoy travelling, move around the house a lot, or in general prefer handheld devices, the iPad is better than any other tablet and I generally do believe it is for you.
Imagine opening this bad boy on Christmas day. 😉 Its a wonderful present if you can afford it!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a smashing new year,
Nial.
