Question by yet_another_sarah: What kind of gifts can I get an iPad guy?
My husband is getting an iPad for his birthday, and I want to get him some related gifts. He wants an Otterbox case, but I can’t find when they will be released. Any other thoughts? Would an iTunes gift card work for iPad apps? Would he be able to get movies through iTunes?

iPad is phenomenal. There are many things you can give him but best in my opinion is camera kit and Apple Blutooth Keyboard.
With camera kit one can connect camera and memory card and import photos videos directly to iPad
iPad is more like a computer than iPod touch. Word document ,spreadsheet and presentation can be created on it and you can download email attachments or media from website directly onto iPad.
If you don’t have Netflix account en get one and gift to your husband. I love watching movies on iPad.
iTunes gift card will work and he can get movies from iTunes but he can also watch movies from websites and Netflix. iTunes movies are in HD so those are more enjoyable but my favorite is Netflix coz I can watch as many movies as I want.
If he loves books then give him some books from iBooks store.
I would get him a screen protector or case maybe.
A case for the iPad is a great idea. However, if he is picky (like most of us Apple freaks) he will want to test the case out first. For example, he would want to see how snug the iPad is in the case and how it feels etc etc.. But an iTunes gift card, you hit the jackpot! I am not a fan of gift cards and rarely buy them. I don’t even like getting them as gifts. Personally I just feel like a gift card says “didn’t know what to get you, here is some money. Go get it yourself.” I never felt that gift cards were thoughtful.

Ever since the iTunes has blossomed around the world and I have been getting them for all my friends who have Macbooks, iPhones and iPods. There eyes really twinkle when they open up the envelope and see the card. I bought one for my wife and she went crazy on Sex and The City and put them all on the card. This answers your question to whether or not you could purchase videos with the gift card. Yes you can. You can basically purchase anything the store offers. Also with the iPad, your husband will also be able to use the card for books from the iBook store.
Trust me an iTunes gift card is the best. Especially for a guy who is about to get his new shiny iPad. Pages (the word processor app) is amazing and costs $9.99. There are many other beautiful apps.
FYI, I have owned an iPhone since the first day it launched in June 2006. I could honestly say that I have not spent more than $15 on apps for the iPhone. I tend to search for the free apps. However, I have owned my iPad for only two weeks now and have spent well over $35!! Now that says something.
Give your husband the gift card and witness him turn into a kid at a candy store 🙂

An iTunes gift card is a flexible choice. He will be able to buy iPad apps, music, movies or anything else at the iTunes store.
You can also gift a particular app through the iTunes store if there is a particular one that you have in mind. You will need an account at iTunes to do this, however.
Another option is an Amazon gift card, or Apple Store gift card. At either of these stores he will find some accessories to make the iPad experience more fun.
And finally – you just might want to get him something non-iPad related, so he can keep busy doing something else – while you get a chance to check out the new iPad! 😉
